Erika, I just read Queen of the Tearling in three long sittings - could not put it down! I love the heroine you have created in the person of Kelsey. I am hoping that Emma Watson will be willing to let the makeup artists make her "plain," not at all glamorous, or that core element of your novel will vanish, and we'll be back to a physically attractive heroine. So much would be lost. Part of what I loved so much was allowing my mind to conjure a TRULY not standardly-attractive heroine, doing all of the brave and smart and magnificent things she did that made her such a stand-out DESPITE not being beautiful. My last plug: Please, PLEASE do not let the Fetch be related to the dark thing that the Red Queen sacrifices to. Some of your hints and possible connections seem to be going there in the next novel (but I hope not!), and I would cry and throw the book across the room if that were so. Right now, the Fetch has that wonderful combination of mean/harsh/dark coupled with smart/brave/moral. He'd lose all of those good points if he were related to the blood-sucking, selfish, truly nasty creature of the dark that the Red Queen grovels to.
