Can’t Get Enough of Patrick deWitt!

More worthy praise and congratulations are due to Mr. Patrick deWitt, author of beloved/acclaimed novel, The Sisters Brothers. He has just won the 2012 Pacific Northwest Book Award! The committee considered nearly 300 nominated titles written by Northwest authors and published in 2011, but narrowed it down to this "gorgeous, wise, riveting work of, among other things, cowboy noir" —David Wroblewski, New York Times bestselling author of The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.

deWitt deWows Yet Again!

Congratulations to Patrick deWitt! DeWitt’s novel, The Sisters Brothers, has won a Governor General’s Literary Award. The Award, carrying a $25,000 prize, is Canada’s oldest and most prestigious award for English- and French-language Canadian literature. It is no surprise that we here in Library Land love this book, and we are thrilled that it is being lauded and recognized for the great work of fiction that it is. The Sisters Brothers: Shortlisted for Man Booker Prize

We were all beyond thrilled when Patrick deWitt's debut novel, The Sisters Brothers, was long-listed for the Booker prize, so imagine our excitement today when it was announced that it has also made the shortlist! All in the Family at Ecco

With Passover and Easter behind us and before us, it's time for seders and easter brunches, around functional and often-dysfunctional family tables. As Tolstoy is often quoted, "All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." The unhappy ones make for better reading, no?
