You already know Roger Rosenblatt from Kayak Morning and Making Toast. In his upcoming memoir The Boy Detective, Roger recounts his meanderings along the Manhattan streets of his childhood, blending memories of his past with musings on the present in a series of vignettes. The writing is absolutely wonderful; even if you’ve never been to Gramercy Park, Irving Place, or Madison Square Park, this book effortlessly transplants you to the streets where Roger spent his youth curiously exploring his environment. Reading The Boy Detective was an interesting and inspiring experience for me since I just moved to New York City a few months ago and Roger has such an intimate understanding of the city’s history. We just happen to have finished, signed copies of The Boy Detective ready for the taking, so the first nine people to email librarylovefest@harpercollins.com will receive one.
